EPF organization working in favor of employees, with the EPFO announcing the final extension of the deadline for the activation of UAN, and the linking of Aadhaar with bank accounts, up to June 30, 2025. There were now pending concerns regarding incomplete KYC compliance by both employees and employers for activities like withdrawal, claim processing, and pension disbursal.
What Is UAN And Its Importance?
The UAN is a distinctive, 12-digit code allotted to an employee for EPF contribution. It functions as the central identity of an employee in order to consolidate PF accounts through multiple employments and therefore to provide the employee the means to manage PF accounts online. Some EPFO services that require UAN activation are:
- Checking PF balance
- Submitting claims online
- Tracking contributions
- Updating KYC
Why Link Aadhaar With The Bank Account And EPF?
Aadhaar needs to be linked with both EPFO accounts and bank accounts for KYC purpose. This will help in:
- Instant authentication
- Quick settlement of claimsPreventing fake accounts
- Faster DBT processing
If an individual fails to link his/her Aadhaar, there will be delays or rejections in PF withdrawal, claim approvals, and pension benefits.
Who Must Act?
All EPF subscribers particularly those who still have to activate their UAN and link it to their Aadhaar and bank account, are required by the mandate to complete this process latest by 30th June 2025. It is expected that this extended deadline shall be the last, and the EPFO has expounded that accounts with incomplete KYC after the deadline shall have limited accessing facilities.
The Completion Procedure
