For the New Tata Sumo, the company has given the 2956 cc BS6-compliant diesel engine generating power of around 140–150 BHP and torque of around 300–350 Nm. This engine provides enough punch in performance but is also touted to give a mileage of 20 kmpl. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT as well.

Possible price for the New Tata Sumo could start at ₹ 2 lakh ex-showroom, making it more affordable and value for money than Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Bolero and Toyota Innova.
