The New CGPS, also called Unified Pension Scheme 2025, is to come into existence in June 2025 to provide financial assistance to senior citizens of the country. From this scheme, eligible beneficiaries shall minimally obtain a monthly pension of ₹10,000, thereby providing senior citizens with social security and financial stability.
What Is The Unified Pension Scheme?
The Unified Pension Scheme 2025 intends to operate in the macro setup of the government in integrating several smaller pension schemes under one strong consolidated framework to ease administrative procedures and cut duplication and thereby each deserving senior citizen might not receive benefits late or in inadequate amounts.
The scheme is, therefore, mainly targeted toward senior citizens who are not covered under any substantial pension or retirement scheme. Therefore it seeks to consolidate the major dimensions of existing pension schemes such as NPS, APY, and EPS-95 into one scheme with better coverage and higher pension amounts.
